This week on As the Costumes Turn…
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009 by tcgI passed Pico de Gallo as I was leaving the gas station by the University. I was very excited and went to grab for my camera only to remember I had taken it inside yesterday. Perhaps I’ll see it again before Harrod leaves town.
This weekend I hope to pay a visit to the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival at the Castle at Muskogee. The drive won’t be too bad but the rain might be troublesome. Once upon a time I had a lovely dress my mother and I had made. It’s was a cream and sage empire gown. So lovely. I made it for Halloween in 2000 when I decided to be Ophelia. Unfortunately, the dress was damaged beyond repair. Does anyone have any ideas for a quick costume?
Oh wait, that’s my job.

Ophelia? That’s certainly a unique choice for a Halloween costume.

I don’t remember why I chose her. I can tell you not a single person guessed Ophelia despite my wet hair, purple lips, and the green tint to my face.

I had a similar experience some time ago when I went to a costume party as RenĂ© Magritte’s painting “The Son of Man” … gray/blue suit, white shirt, red tie, and a bowler hat with a plastic apple suspended from the rim. Looked great but no one understood.
It was quite surreal, if you’ll pardon the pun.

That sounds like a fantastic costume.

It was unique, I have to admit.
