Long Tall Texan
Saturday, June 13th, 2009 by tcgMy Dad can be talked into doing most anything if Mom is the one doing the talking. It was just a matter of seconds before he agreed to do a stilt show at the Annual Meeting of the Arkansas-Oklahoma Division, Inc of IAAP at the Cherokee Casino Resort. She requested Long, Tall Texan.
The costume consists of custom blue jeans, traditional cowboy shirt, modified extra-long hobby horse, novelty cowboy hat, accessories, and his smile.
Despite having trouble walking on the carpet, Dad made it around the room waving and shooting into the air. The cap rifle misfired a few times, as caps do, but the guests seemed to enjoy the show.
It was a lot of fun. Many of the ladies were giggling and taking pictures. I saw some of the servers and staff pulling out their camera phones to document the man on stilts. People on the casino floor were staring up at the silted cowboy. It’s hard to resist a stilt walker.
Sometimes people wonder why I’m a little weird or why I like dressing up in costumes. Then they meet my parents and it all makes sense.
