Party Time Again
Monday, February 1st, 2010 by tcg
We’re once again in the middle of carnival season. Mardi Gras is just around the corner. We only have two weeks to plan this thing people, February 16, let’s get started!
I suggest you host a costume party. It’ll be super fun. Yeah, I wrote “super fun”. All you need is a theme for your masquerade. I’ll give you a theme everyday this week. Pick one by Friday so your guests have time to plan their costumes. You can do it one of two ways. First, simply let your guests know that the party has a theme and costumes are required to get in the door. The second way is to assign each guest or group of guests a specific costume. It’ll take the pressure off of coming up with an idea.
Today’s theme is: Music Masters.
This one couldn’t be easier. Music comes in all shapes, colors, sizes, and ages. You can dress as the King of Rock, King of Pop, or the Queen of Rapture. Maybe your sister can be the Material Girl. Even Better…your mom and dad can be Sonny and Cher. It’s perfect.
Have the guys from your Sunday pick-up game come as the Beatles. Get creative. Not every idea has to come from the costume store. Walk through the local thrift store and I’m sure a few ideas will pop into your head. Janis Joplin or Roy Orbison, perhaps. I bet at least one person gets a wild hair and dresses like Beethoven.

Play Name that Tune and Password Music edition. Make everyone guess each others’ costumes. Rename all the drinks after musicians: Shirley Temple is now a Pink and Mai Tai’s are Beach Boys. Be creative. Get crazy. And Get down! Have fun. Don’t forget the Village People!
