A Groovy Kind of Mardi Gras
Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010 by tcg
Today’s Mardi Gras party idea is a classic. Head back to the 1960s. A time when music was evolving and clothing was shrinking. Everything was far out and hip. Perhaps best of all you can be anything from a greaser to a hippie to a mod model and still be within the theme. Swingers where huge. Surfers were gnarly. And all the babes were choice. So, raid the attic and the thrift stores, or hit the online shopping cart, because this wild party will be the ultimate scene.
Serve trendy cocktails and little hors d’oeuvres with tassled toothpicks. Hehee. Play a TV trivia game based on the popular shows of the 60s. Try to name which character said what. Use from Gilligan’s Island, The Monkees, and Bewitched for inspiration. Oooh! Great your guests at the door with love beads instead of Mardi Gras beads.
You can modify the timeline a bit if you prefer. Travel back to the Fifties for some sock hop good times…OR…you disco your way into the Seventies. It’s up to you. I’d suggest avoiding the Eighties due to the high concentration of neon clothing. I was there, I have a right to point out our flawed fashion sense.
