We’ve hit the middle of the week now. You should pick a Mardi Gras costume party theme soon.
What’s better than a movie theme?
Heck if I know! Movies are the spice of costumes. They run the gamut of fun. From raincoats to trench coats and hockey masks to domino masks.
With a movie theme, you need a catchy invite. Send one admit ticket to each of your guests. Have the time, theater number, and movie printed on the stub. Make it memorable by serving your snacks in paper popcorn bags.
You can limit the movie choices to a genre, time period, or award winners (Oscar). If you make it all sci-fi all the time, the party will be packed with Vulcans and ray guns. So cool. Make it a super event by stating only heroes or villains may gain entry. Create a secret password or ring…sorry, I got carried away.
Musicals are an excellent source of costume delights. Plumb the depths of Rocky Horror for some truly decadent Mardi Gras madness. Keep it simple and classy with matching raincoats for a little Singin’ in the Rain.
If musicals and science fiction aren’t your thing, try adventure on for size. You may want to give each guest a movie they should use in order to keep a lid on the number of Indiana Jones whipping people.
Use Wikipedia for lists of movies in different genres. It can be a great help when assigning movies and costumes to your friends.
