I hope you are having as much fun as I am making my Mardi Gras mask. On Wednesday, we made mask patterns. On Thursday, those of us using paper-mâché started our layering and drying process. Today, we decorate! Let’s get started decorating.

Making Masks Part I

You want to enter the 1st Annual That Costume Girl Mardi Gras Mask Contest, but you’ve never made a mask. No problem. Masks are easy to make and fun for the entire family. Over the next few days, I’ll make a mask with you. My mask will be a paper-mâché mask. You can skip the messy paper-mâché step if you want. Gather your supplies and follow along.

Mardi Gras Mask Contest

It’s time for another fun filled contest! This time around the theme is Mardi Gras. I want to see your best Masquerade Masks. Get out your purple, green, and gold paint. Pretend you need a stunning mask to wear with your gown or tuxedo to a Mardi Gras Ball. Be creative!

1st Annual That Costume Girl Mardi Gras Mask Contest

Rules:
~Email a picture of you wearing your mask to ThatCostumeGirl@gmail.com.
~Pictures should be no larger than 800 x 800 pixels in JPEG format.
~Entries must be received by February 21, 2009.
~Two winners will be selected on or about Mardi Gras, February 24, 2009.
~Please no professional mask artists. If you are a professional mask maker, you may submit a picture of your work and a link to your store but you will not be eligible for a prize.
Prize packages include a 2009 Cloisonné Endymion medallion.
