I am not in favour of the changes to the RET for the hauliers, however I am fed up with the scaremongering of how much prices will rise and affect all families. Of course there will be an impact, but let’s have some real numbers.Pubs will run dry?? Rubbish! Put 2p on a pint that’ll almost certainly cover the added cost to the transport costs. Come on somebody who knows the real costs involved – Tell us how much a pint of Belhaven, Lager or the rubbish that reaches the places…., has to go up to cover any increase.Talking about 50% increase in ferry fares to trucks in the same breath as the costs will have to be passed on to local families, suggests wrongly that we might expect prices to rise by 50%! Nonsense! Spread the cost of the increase across the goods in the back of the truck and tell us the real impact on the local families. The real crippling costs that are hurting everyone is FUEL. WHY has Angus Campbell and the rest of the council not been fuming and jumping about since the fuel duty rebate has already gone with interest. What a scandal!
Good on you !Another question that needs answering is Master Allan’s cozy chats with Sam Chambers and GB/SCOTTISH FUELS .In October himself and Macneil locked people out of the meeting in the council that they had with Curdly and a selected...
Good on you !Another question that needs answering is Master Allan’s cozy chats with Sam Chambers and GB/SCOTTISH FUELS .In October himself and Macneil locked people out of the meeting in the council that they had with Curdly and a selected audience .Must have been a trial run for locking Alasdair Bochd, Woody and co.out off the fuel meeting. The voters he and Macneil refused to invite in to the first meeting – included SNP stalwarts Duncan & Archie Sharper .What confidence can we have in him when he doesn’t even invite his own supporters into private meetings with profiteers ?If any of you had any doubts before , they will be confirmed when you ask yourself the question – why does Allan always meet Sam Chambers and his merry band of fuel pirates in private when nobody knows what he is saying or promising ?Time to stop the cozy chats with people who are ripping us off, Alasdair Beag and open things up if you want us to leave you with the little trust you still have.REGARDSOCIRA
that a box of corn flakes would not be any cheaper because of RET, which is borne out by the fact that 93% of local businesses said no benefits were passed on. So what the Scottish government have decided is that the current set up was not working,...
that a box of corn flakes would not be any cheaper because of RET, which is borne out by the fact that 93% of local businesses said no benefits were passed on. So what the Scottish government have decided is that the current set up was not working, obviously, so they have stopped the hauliers bonus scheme, put in £2.5 million worth of transitional relief in the meantime while they are conducting a review of commercial RET.To date no evidence has been published by the hauliers to show that discounts were passed on. Also for them to say that RET absorbed rising fuel prices is a bit of a fib as well, as a quick glance at their invoices will show you; where a fuel surcharge was added to the bill. All this hype seems to have been a lot of mischief making by the Labour party, who are always up for a bit of nat-bashing, our independent Labour guys, and those desperate to cling onto power in the white house. As i see it someone is telling lies, either its the hauliers, who now say that they did pass on the discount, or the local shops and their customers, who say that they did not receive any discount.
